I hate SBC. Seriously. I just found out today that I only qualify for “crappy” DSL from them. This in spite of the fact that there is a remote terminal less than 5,000 feet from my new place. I’m mildly irritated, to say the least.

So the big question now is what to do about bandwidth. I totally can’t afford to come up to Wired every night. I could freeload off of someone else’s wireless connection, but that feels unethical. I dunno… we’ll have to see.

Though, there is some serious bandwidth here. See for yourself:

Yes, that is ~15 megabit per second for those who are counting.

Man does dialup suck.

Back at my bandwidth paradise. I put the pictures from Josh’s birthday party online. It was a blast. It was definately the place to be last night.

Ahh… bandwidth. For $3 per hour, I could live here! Sure… that may seem expensive, but I remember paying 6 cents per minute for my original Quantum Link account… and that was when I was 8 years old! I managed to run up a $50 bill one month…. so this is NOTHING!

I need to go home and get some sleep… I haven’t slept well all week. Ugh.

Man I hope this one goes over better than the last one I presented…

Off to a meeting, I’ll write more later.

Even though I am the best speller amongst my siblings, even I need help sometimes. More often than not, I turn to Google, and their spiffy cool “Did you mean” spell checker.

BUT, they also show ads on their searches, which sometimes leads to interesting results, such as this one.

NexTag: Helping you find the best deals for all of your biblical plague needs.

Greetings from Wired, Merced’s first (and only) Internet Cafe. Not too bad prices, either. $3.00/hr when you bring your own PC, and they appear to have about 4mbit/sec in both directions. For those keeping score at home, that’s about 76 times the download speed of a 56k modem, and about 121 times the upload speed of a 56k modem. Needless to say, I am enjoying it immensely.

Man, is the new room small. Well, see for yourself.

But, it sure beats living on the street, right? The apartment complex is really nice, though.

Tonight is Josh’s big birthday shindig. I’m excited as well as nervous, for reasons that may or may not be obvious to those who know me. It should be fun, though.

Anyway, back to research (well, research and downloading)

Man… California will give anyone a driver’s license! Even Chloe is getting into the action…

Thanks to Chase for the super-groovy image.

In case you missed it, my former employer’s latest book series scored a review on Slashdot. Overall, very complimentary.

And I have an autographed copy of the first book in the series, so there. :-)

I am so tired, and sore. I spent 23 hours cleaning & moving stuff. The last time I felt this sore was when I went to do relief work after Hurricane Andrew.

Anyway, I have everything moved in (just about… still some odds & ends in my car), and there is absolutely ZERO space available in my new room. It’s quite a tight squeeze, but oh well.

For those who have been asking about my car, here’s a photo of the silver bullet?.

And here is an adorable photo of Jonathan’s new puppy, Brynn.

Chloe is supposed to have a vet appointment today, but I’ve decided that she has had enough trauma this week, so we’re going to reschedule.

I’m tired, cranky, and generally unpleasant right now. Ugh.

Tonight is the official night from hell. That’s right… I am about to embark on about 8 hours worth of nonstop cleaning and moving! Jealous? I knew you would be.

Anyway, I am super happy that I am able to keep my Sonic.net DSL connection. They really are a great ISP, though it will still take a couple of weeks to get it transferred. No biggie, though.

SO, this means that there will be only sporatic blog updates until I get my new DSL activated.
