So I went to Yosemite Church’s annual “Harvest Festival” tonight… I had a lot of fun with my friends, and the turnout was so much higher than expected.

I have put my pictures online in my photo gallery.

As most of you know, I spend most of my “free” time working on RainbowKids, the Internet’s oldest & largest international adoption website.

Anyway, we allow agencies to post information about children who are waiting to be adopted. Some unscrupulous agencies specify the birth date of a particular child as in the future so that their children appear at the top of the list. To combat this problem, I have added the following message when they attempt to specify a birth date that is in the future:

Um…

You have specified a birth date for this child that is in the future. Nice try to get your children at the top of the list, though. Not going to happen. This attempt has been logged.

Too rash or mean? I think it drives the point home well… we want this to be about the children, not about whatever agency can “game” the system.

OH! And the initial beta of RKBlogs is online.

I am completely in technolust.

I know… I am so predictable. But this thing is super-sweet. I love the screen, and according to some friends who work at Apple, the screen is really even more amazing than what it looks like on the web.

I’m looking forward to checking out one at the Apple Store in San Francisco.

Do you ever feel like you’re going through the motions? I feel like that all I’ve been doing lately is exactly what is expected of me. I’m not innovating, I’m not changing the world. I’m just going through the day minute by minute, hour by hour. Nothing new, nothing different. And that depresses me to no end.

Where is the variety? They say that variety is the spice of life. If true, I’ve had a really bland few months…

Still believe that today’s popular music isn’t manufactured by record labels?

Ashlee Simpson, sister of Jessica Simpson, has released an album that went triple platinum, but she can’t actually sing. Last night on SNL, as Ashlee began her second song, the sound engineer accidentally started playing Ashlee’s “Live” vocals for the first song again. After a bit of confusion, she walked off stage while her band (who she later blamed) continued to play.

Here’s a video of the event.

After a 6 month absense, my digital camera has finally come home! It turns out that I had left it at a Piccadilly restaurant we visited while I was in New Orleans. The discovery of the camera means that I get to put online some AWESOME pictures of my sisters as they meet their latest foster children…

I have the coolest sisters ever.

Okay, so the classic computer itch is starting to flare up again… and it may take an eBay purchase of a Commodore PET to resolve it.

In case you didn’t know, one of my hobbies is collecting classic computers. So far in my collection I have a Commodore SX-64, an Amiga 2000 with a Video Toaster installed, a Commodore 64, a Commodore 128, and a Mac Centris 650.

Anyway, the bug is biting again, and so I need to figure out what to do to resolve it. Currently on my list of items that I want to acquire that are in my price range include: a Commodore PET (with chicklet keyboard), a Commodore Plus/4, and a TRS-80 Portable Computer. Of course, there are computers that are beyond my current price range, such as an Apple Lisa, a PDP/11, and a Commodore 65.

Sigh… I wish I were rich… :-)

I’m on hold with Apple Support trying to get a replacement for my PowerBook’s power adaptor. Since I’m past my “complimentary 90 days phone support”, they are having to get approval to talk to me (seriously).

Anyway, the song currently playing is Neil Young’s song Be The Rain. And even though I have become the “liberal hippie” some of my family has said I have become, I have to say, does Apple actually have a touch with reality? I mean, with lyrics like “Be The Magic In The Northern Lights”, I was worried that I would have to excuse myself to vomit in the restroom.

Anyway, just thought that was interesting… Apple must forget sometimes that there is a whole country out there that isn’t QUITE as left as they are.
