The bottom sign was posted first… since then, two more salvos were initiated:

The Day the Music went Corporate

John Anderson | June 26, 2007

So, I haven’t really written about it, but the shitster died on the way back from Fresno last week. Thankfully, I have some awesome friends, one of whom loaned me a spare car to drive until I figure out what I want to drive.

Anyhoo, since my car died in Frenso, and I live in Merced, I had to drive said loaner down to Frenso to gut the corpse of a car I had been driving. Since Merced’s AM stations only get around 5 miles of coverage, I was forced onto the FM band, where I encountered JACK-FM for the first time. Now, I am the total hate corporate America hippie, but I have to confess, I LOVED the songs played. The interesting thing is that the Fresno “affiliate” has perfect reception in Merced. So, should I feel guilty in this pleasure? Or should I just sit back, wave an American flag in support of our troops, and pretend there is no decision making involved… decisions, decisions.

You cheapies…

John Anderson |

So, according to several different sources, I have around 400 unique readers per week.  Not visitors, but readers who return more than 2 times per week.

That being said, how come none of you have taken me up on my DVD offer.  Time to post on Amazon or something now.

Also, I REALLLY need to get a dog.  Lonliness sucks.

Housecleaning, and how it makes your world a better place

John Anderson | June 24, 2007

Ok, so I just finished unpacking my DVD collection. Sweet niblets, I have a lot of DVDs. I estimate around 700 DVDs, and around 50 next-gen (about 50/50 split between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray). So many, actually, that I have a number of duplicates. So, faithful blog readers, here’s my move-in special for you! I have the following 5 DVDs that are dupes. If you e-mail me with your address and the title you want, and then pay-pal me $1 + the cost of shipping (Flat rate priority, so the total would be like $5.10), I’ll send it along to you right away. But first things first. Get me your address and the movie you want. I’ll then reply if it is still available. OH, and if you would rather trade, no money exchanged (including no postage!), that’ll be even better!

The films are:

  • Titan A.E.
  • Shrek 2
  • Hannibal
  • American Beauty
  • The Waterboy

Limited time offer, void where prohibited. Get cracking on those e-mails!

R.I.P Mr. Wizard

John Anderson | June 12, 2007

Don Herbert, 89; TV’s ‘Mr. Wizard’ taught science to young baby boomers

I grew up longing for every single new episode of Mr. Wizard’s World.  For me, it was one of the defining shows of my childhood.  Mr. Wizard taught me the difference between weight and volume, how to calculate the speed of sound based on the speed of light, and even at what point the weight of gravity balances out of a vacuum.

My love affair with science was fueled by Mr. Wizard.  I am so thankful for that simple show… goodness, I can think of another dozen experiements even as I write this.

My BBQ

John Anderson | June 10, 2007

So, I went to OSH and purchased a Weber grill (The One-Touch Gold model in green).  I’ve never actually had a backyard large enough to accommodate a bar-b-que.  So, I made hamburgers!  And yes, there is photographic evidence.

After I get everything unpacked and set up, I’m going to have a housewarming party with authentic charcoal grilled food and lots of beer.  Mmm… beer. :-)

Okay, as promised, the pics of the new house are online!

So, the next step?  A pet!  So what do you guys think?  Dog(s) or Cat(s)?  Please leave your comments with your vote!

I’ll take some pics of the home theater here in a few minutes… I’m excited about this decision!
