The Other Baptists
John Anderson |Having grown up in a Southern Baptist family, I can completely relate to the concerns voiced in this article. The SBC has become a puppet front for the extreme right-wing of the country, and has become more and more backwards in its reluctance to address the needs of today’s world-weary traveller.
In the words of Andy Stanley, the church is the pitcher, the message is the water. The pitcher changes shapes, colors, and styles as the years pass by. But the water always remains the same.
Scratch that, reverse it.
John Anderson | January 17, 2008I cancelled my Kindle order. Basically, Amazon confessed to me that they had no clue as to when it would actually ship, but that a “rough estimate” would be 4 - 6 MONTHS. Oh well, gives me time to save up for that MacBook Air… ![]()
Sucker.
John Anderson |(Hype) is greater than (Common Sense)
John Anderson | January 16, 2008So, I ordered a Kindle tonight. I have no idea when it’ll ship, but I figured that I owe it to myself to try it out. I read far too many books and even more blogs to not try out something like this.
Help support my addiction by clicking on my affiliate link and buying a Kindle and / or other general Amazon crap. KTHXBAI!

One More Thing?
John Anderson | January 15, 2008You read it here first last, as this was predicted by everyone else weeks ago…. My prediction about tomorrow’s keynote bombshell? A sub-mini notebook that is always connected via Sprint’s new Wi-Max network.
What better way to steal the wind from Kindle’s sails than to announce that you once again out-classed and out-witted the “competition”?
FSJ, eat your heart out.
Oh, and FYI, this was posted a full 9 hours prior to the keynote, just in case you question my premonitioning skills…
Man do I need help…
John Anderson | January 11, 2008In case you missed it…
John Anderson | January 9, 2008Here is Ellen Page on David Letterman’s show.
She is SOOO amazingly adorable! Oh, and for the ?TV owners in the audience, I am uploading a 720p MP4 as I type.
Update: Here is the MP4 as promised.
Just say no!
John Anderson | January 8, 2008Ok, so I am officially tired of the crap that gets thrown on the ballet here in California every year. I’d offer a history, but you can google it if you’re really interested. Basically, you can put anything on the ballot if you get enough signatures.
I don’t have the patience to sort through all of the propositions on the primary ballot this year. So, as is always recommended, I am voting NO on every single proposition on the ballot.
No, I’ve not read them all. No, I’ve not analyzed their impacts. But what I have learned over the last 5 years is that almost every single ballot proposition is some kind of self-serving special interest best rejected.
So enjoy tonight’s JohnA recommendation.. “NO on everything®”
