Me too — got mine on Dec. 4th, and now have more than 400 in my directory, all on my 8 GB memory card to leave my Kindle memory as open as possible — it’s easy to move things later to the memory card.

New Kindle users don’t usually know about the thousands of free ebooks for out of copyright materials available on the ihnternetl I love classical books as I was an English lit major in college long ago, and thought I could never own the books I read then — but now I have them all — for example all of Charles Dickens and many ore, and all for free.

Also while the Kindle store is reasonably priced, you can get most modern books as a “sample” which usually provides a 15 to 30 minute read — enough to give a good idea of the entire book, and if you really want it — buy it. With the cost of gasoline, this alone will save many trips to local bookstores for avid readers like me. Plus it’s tiring standing in a book store trying to look at a book — so much better to do that in your home.

My Kindle has become such an important part of my life, that it goes where I go — everywhere, everytime. I attached my Kindle to the case using velcro so it wouldn’t fall out, then attached a small soft belt to it so I can carry it around my neck when I need both hands to carry other things. But actually it’ll even fit in my pants socket, but it’s a little tight.

I’m totally jealous. I would love to have one, but alas, the kids and I will have to stick to the library. (Have you ever tried going to the library with 4 kids? It’s not as relaxing as it sounds. :P)
